Examination of the corpse proved that soldier Levon Torosyan was tortured before his death

Examination of the corpse proved that soldier Levon Torosyan was tortured before his death
Levon Torosyan, a soldier killed in the combat position of the military unit known as Mehrabner, was tortured before his death. There are wounds and injuries on his body. The incident occurred on the early morning of May 6, around 07:25 am. Today Levon Torosyan`s body was subjected to a forensic examination at the Republican Medical Center, which was attended by expert Ruben Martirosyan at the request of the victim’s family.

After the forensic examination, the expert provided details to Forrights.am. Hemorrhages have been found on Levon Torosyan`s genital organs. "They could only be caused by a blunt object. The blows were so strong that those delicate organs were hemorrhaging while they were soft tissues. So, the blows should have been really very strong," said Ruben Martirosyan.

The expert unequivocally claims that the stroke has caused severe pain and Levon has lost his ability of resistance at once. "Taking advantage of the fact that the boy was in a helpless condition and could not resist, the killers put the weapon under his chin, shot and killed him." Ruben Martirosyan is inclined to think that several people were involved in the murder of the soldier, i.e. it was a group crime.

The forensic examination of the body, in addition to the gunshot injury, revealed also the following injuries: there were abrasions on Levon`s right and left arms that had the same shape and size and were caused at the same time. “At this point, the forensic doctor can not say whether they were caused before death or posthumously but he is inclined to think that they are posthumous injuries," says the expert.

Martirosyan’s explanation is the following: if Levon Torosyan`s elbow joint injuries have been caused before his death, it could witness that the injuries were resulted from the resistance of the soldier. If the forensic investigation confirms that these injuries were caused posthumously, it would mean that the murderers had moved the soldier`s corpse from one place to another to cover the traces of the murder. "This will not help them because the fact of relocation of the body itself shows that they have committed a crime."

The final decision will be made by the forensic doctor, but expert Martirosyan is convinced that his abovementioned observations are in line with reality: first, Torosyan was killed, second, it was a group murder.

Ruben Martirosyan points out another interesting matter. On the same day, the day of death of Levon Torosyan, in accordance with RA Criminal Code, Article 110, part 1, a criminal case has been initiated at the Criminal Investigation Department of the RA for inflicting suicide. "A deliberately wrong article has been put forward. The Garrison Department did not conduct an investigation and qualified the case as suicide from the very first day. The so-called pre-investigative body did not have any evidence that the incident was a suicide andwas just carrying out an order. Thus, it is biased. I am convinced that this order, as in my other cases, has come from the Chairman of the Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan."

Levon Torosyan`s father, Arsen Torosyan, has been recognized as the legal successor of the victim. Ruben Martirosyan assures that, based on its illegal actions, he will challenge the investigative group of the 6th garrison division of the IC.

Levon Torosyan, born in 1999, was drafted from the village of Bambakashat, Armavir region. His father, Arsen Torosyan, does not believe that his son committed suicide. "He was a well-balanced, intelligent and serious boy, he could not have done that. My son would not commit suicide. I have always told him, dear boy, always remember, you have a home, do not destroy us, always remember that you should return home." Arsen learned about his son`s death on May 6, at about 10 am. He was carrying out agricultural work with his brother. A fellow villager, a military commander called Arsen`s brother and invited to his home. "When he said Levon was no more, I asked, are you kidding? He said, no, Levon is no more, and hugged me. My legs weakened and I fell down."

Levon has last talked with his family on the day of his death, at 07:03 am. According to the preliminary investigative body, the time of his death was 07:25 am; in other words, minutes after speaking with the family. "A fox had stolen chickens the previous day, he knew and even asked, daddy, did the fox stole any more chickens? Then he said, "Dad, I’m in a hurry, I have to go; we have to dig some trenches, and turned off the phone." Arsen tells that, months before serving in Mehrab, his son was nervous and anxious, but did not take his life even at that time. This time he was in a very good mood. "If he had had suicide in his mind, I would have understood it somehow, there would have been signs in one way or another. I know my boy like my 10 fingers," says the father.Levon had told his father how disorderly the entire military unit and the posts were. "People are lying down drunk or under the influence of narcotics. I swear: this is truth."

Some of the servicemen in this unit have a privileged status. "My son told me that the rich give money and do not serve, they do not even take a position near the nightstand." Levon was one of Bambakashat`s beloved youngsters; everyone was admiring how the young man was helping his father in agricultural work. The co-villagers gathered at the morgue door are shocked; they do not believe in the suicide version.

Arsen left to Shamshadin immediately after getting the news about his son’s death, but did not reach the military unit. He wants to be in the position where the blood of his son was shed. He does not have friends in the army and thinks he will not be allowed to be there.

Serving in Armenian Armed Forces endangers lives of homosexual conscripts

"If I went to the army, my life would be seriously threatened. As a result of physical violence, I would be deprived of life or, submitted to psychological violence and persecution, I might have committed suicide," says homosexual A.S. to Forrights.am.

The corporal Hovhannes Melkonyan was killed in the Vardenis military unit on June 22. A black "cabin", four walls, sloping roof -- the only house the corporal has ever known, consists of a narrow, tiny room. Even the toilets of the contemporary buildings are bigger than his “house”.
